The Library was formerly the “Zhongzheng District Reading Room,” founded in 2000 and located on the second floor of the Xiangfeng Market. The building became obsolete; therefore, the Library submitted subsidy requests to the Ministry of Education for the improvement of the reading environment. A new administration building in this district was built. Therefore, the Library was relocated to its current location in January 2018 to continue to serve the public. The space design of the Library is based on the geographical environment of this district. Gentle lines and blue colors are used to create an oceanic image. The design of the library space is vivid and vast to build an excellent reading environment. The special bookcase at the entrance is inspired by the emblem of Keelung. The mountain and ocean image of the city is connected to three themes “mountain,” “ocean” and “human” and brings out three special collection themes “locality,” “ocean” and a “diverse culture.”
